***THIS DOES NOT WORK***
I have no idea what Cutco is thinking here, but you CAN NOT SHARPEN KNIVES WITH THIS TOOL. Whats worse is that Cutco does not offer a much needed tool with ANY knife set, and that is a honing steel. Two things happen to fine edges. The edge, from regular daily use, gets turned or bent out of true. The edge is still there, it just needs to be be brought back up straight and true. This is where the honing steel comes in. After a fair amount of use (a few months to a year depending) the knife will become dull. The honing steel can not restore the edge because there isnt one. The knife must be actually sharpened, which means that material needs to be ground off the sides of the knife to restore the edge. THIS IS NOT A TASK THAT SHOULD BE DONE IN THE HOME. Pro chefs send their knives out to be sharpened and so should anyone purchasing these knives. In short, this tool SHOULD NOT BE USED IN ANY CAPACITY WITH YOUR FINE CUTCO EDGES, IF YOU BUY THESE KNIVES, GO TO YOUR LOCAL KITCHEN SUPPLY STORE AND BUY A HONING STEEL.

Very Convenient
You don't have to know much to be able to use this. There is an arrow pointing which direction to slide the knife. You have to be somewhat maticulous with how you drag the knife through, but it has worked well for me over the years.

Superior Sharpener
This sharpener has far surpassed anything I have yet to use. It's worked on scissors, table knives and kitchen knives. I haven't had it too long (only 5 months). I'm very pleased with my purchase.
