Outstanding knife
I sold Cutco 18-20 years ago to put myself through medical school and was a firm believer in the product myself. At that time, I bought the homemaker +8 and multiple other knives and have had and used them regularly ever since. The pocket knife has been one of my trusted and true old friends - always nearby to lend a hand. And after twenty years - this is the first year I ever sent it in to get sharpened (and that was after twenty years of very heavy use)! I definitely recommend getting the Double D edge over the straight edge - far superior. As a surgeon, I have a strong appreciation for high quality, sharp knives - and that is definitely what you get with this product. I highly recommend it. I have since ordered multiple others to give away as gifts.

Good solid pocket knife
I sold Cutco over 16 years ago and own numerous Cutco products. After all of these years I have found that the products have held up really well, Cutco honours their warranty (which is amazing), and my belief in their products is stronger than ever. My 16-year old (straight-edge) pocket knife is only now being sent in for sharpening - it has held up very well over the years. I realize that not everyone uses the right knife for the right job, and when that happens you should expect that you may ruin the blade and you may be unhappy with the product. It is up to each of us to use the knives responsibly. I personally use the Super Shears or one of my kitchen knives with Double-D edge for cutting cardboard, and it worked very well without damaging the blades/shears.

Money better spent elsewhere
My wife and I purchased some Cutco producuts mid-summer of 2009. One of these was this folding pocket knife. I chose the one with the Double-D edge.
Right after we moved into our new home in Aug '09, we naturally had a lot of cardboard boxes to get rid of. The first several boxes fell easily to this knife. But it didn't take too long at all for it to become a struggle to cut down the boxes.
I'm quite disappointed that I a) bought into the hype of Cutco...at least in THIS knife, b) due to the Double-D edge, I can't sharpen it myself, and c) that I didn't spend the same money on a Spyderco, Kershaw, or Benchmade product that'd probably use harder steel AND allow me to sharpen it myself.
The Good News, though, is that I believe it's a well-made knife and quite sturdy for a folder. Only just a HINT of blade wobble, even when trying to push/pull it through some thick cardboard.
I also enjoy the easy 1-handed opening capability and, despite it being a lock-back style handle, I can close it 1-handed too.
