Not Sharp. Is it supposed to be?
I have this knife and my girlfriend has the chef knife as well as a couple other Cutco knives. The quality of this knife is great except that it isn't sharp compared to other Cutco knives. Is it supposed to be?
Maybe it is supposed be used more as a butcher cleaver and I'm just confused. I would love to find out, my opinion might change!d

I purchased my first Cutco set, the Homemaker w/storage trays, in 1990 while working my way through college. Probably a dozen years later a young man working his way through college called for an appointment. I was able to expand my original set and added a Salmon knife, the entertainer pack, a wok, and several other pieces. This has been one of the best investments I've made. Cooking is a joy with such a variety of high quality knives. I look forward to pulling out my set, my cookbook and seeing what I can create.
P.S. My inlaws purchased their set in the 1950s and are still using them today.

My Favorite Knife
This was my second Cutco purchase, and by far my best knife. It cuts everything!! It is easy to use and I pretty much use it every day. Great for chopping, then using the side to move veggies to the pan. I chop everything with it, not just veggies.

This knife RULES!
This knife rules! This is the knife that should be in every household. I love this knife and boy do I take care of it. It has been one year now and it cuts like the first day. One would think because of it's large size it can not cut very thin slices...but it does. I enjoy using this knife and actually look forward to using it. Buy it and try it...you will not be disappointed!!!!

I LOVE THIS KNIFE!
This is absolutely the best knife I have ever used. The quality and craftmanship is evident in all aspects of this product. The sharpness of the blade is superior to any I've tried before. The weight and balance of the knife makes meal preparation a pleasure.

Best knife I own. I've had it nearly 10 years and I use it almost every day. It holds its edge so well I've only had to sharpen it 4 or 5 times. It's a super product. For me it works well on large and small jobs.

I love this knife!
I always hated chopping veggies before, but this knife makes it a breeze! I use it for everything. It's easy to handle - not too heavy and not so big that I'm not comfortable using it.

I Love This Knife
I use this knife every day for everything! It's my one go-to knife in the kitchen. I've had it for years and it needs honing once a week or so. Finally after over seven years I am sending it back to get resharpened.
You simply cannot go wrong with this knife. it's got a great balance; the blade is long enough to cut long things like carrots, and it's wide enough for turnips, potatoes and beets.
The weight is just right, too, being just heavy enough to easily get through thicker items without a lot of pushing and sawing, but also not being heavy on the arms. I have fibromyalgia so I love the weight and balance of this knife.
It holds an edge well, and believe me, I've put it through it's paces over the years, using it on a wooden cutting board!
If you want one knife that is absolutely perfect for everything, from julienning carrots to boning chickens, this is it.
I would also recoomend the cleaver and the santoku knives.

Best Knife in the Block!
I have a set of Cutco knives that make my prep time for cooking a joy, but the vegetable knife is a very well balanced knife, great weight for cutting straight and by far my favorite knife of the bunch. Paper thin tomatoes are the norm, it even does well for slicing delicate meats on a downward motion (sideways cutting of fish is still better with a sushi style knife). Excellent knife, holds an edge, great balance, comfortable handle.

Vegetable Knife perfect!
This knife has been my best purchase! I chop veggies all the time for soups and salads and salsa and I don't know what I would do without this particular instrument in my kitchen. As a long time user of CUTCO, I think this one is my favorite of all my knives.
I certainly would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of purchasing a slicing tool.

Best overall knife in the line. Been using this knife for the past 5 years. Wades through a mound of vegetables with ease. Heft, balance, and sharpness make long chopping sessions much easier. Only have to sharpen about every three months.

This is one of my top five most frequently used knives. I love it. My married sons are good cooks, and each has used it. They instantly wanted one for themselves. One of them was a Cutco salesperson at one time. So, I bought them each one. And am sending one to my in-laws.

Oh So Handy!
I am reviewing the Vegetable knife. I purchased the knife in a set. I like the way it cuts vegetables, it is very well balanced, and it feels very comfortable in my hands. I like the width of the blade, as it makes it much easier to move the cut veggies from the cutting board to either the pan I am cooking the veggies in, or to the bowl when I am doing preperation work for much more complicated menus. The sharpness of the blade also shortens the time it takes to prep the food.

versatile vegetable knife
i use this knife for absolutely everything. it's not just for vegetables anymore. the rounded tip is smoother when julienning etc. with the tip on the board up to cutting watermellons nicely. and safer to with the round tip. wonderfully made and kept sharp by the best knife sharpener i've ever had. i'd like it if the handle was a bit wider and heavier but it's great.
