Butcher Knife

Wide belly and clip point allow for accuracy when cutting larger items like melon, squash and pineapple. It's great for disjointing poultry too. Knife has a 7-7/8" straight-edge blade and measures 13-3/4" overall. Made in America

Worst purchase ever
I purchased the butcher knife because I wanted something to cut through melons with ease. I only used it once but found the knife very cumbersome. It is very heavy and difficult to use if you don't possess a lot of strength. It not only hurt my hands to use it but I couldn't cut through the melon. It should have been at its sharpest since I just removed it from the package but seemed very dull.
I use this product for:tried to cut a melon not very sucessfully
Response from CUTCO:By KathleenMarketingDecember 20, 2011
I would recommend contacting our Customer Service Center at 1-800-828-0448 or service@cutco.com. If you purchased within 15 days, you can return the knife under the Forever Guarantee. If it appeared dull out of the box, there may be a manufacturing defect and the knife can be replaced.

bought this one because it just looked cool
I purchased the bulk of my cutco knives in 1990. Used the others quite often ever since, but really didn't start using this one much until the past few years. None have ever been sharpened & even after 21 years, I still don't feel the need to send them back for service!
In the past I'd always go for the chef knife or the carving knife & this one just sat in the drawer. After I got married this one started to get more use due to two of us needing a large knife at the same time while making family meals or canning salsa together. I also found new uses for this one after I started hunting & found myself using it for butchering deer, turkey & waterfowl. I think I have dulled this one a little bit with the butchering, & I must say I prefer my Double D edged cutco knives to the straight ones, but even with the straight edge, these knives surpass any other on the market!
I thought they were overpriced when I first bought them but they have definately proved their worth & I am happy to rave about what a value they are!
I own 6 kitchen knives, a set of 4 table knives & the peeler. I'll never purchase another brand of kitchen knife, & I am currently awaiting the arrival of all three sportsmens knives!
I use this product for:large veggies bulk veggie jobs, butchering game

all it was supose to be
I bought this knife to butcher wild game. I normally resharpen several times butchering an Elk. I butchered 4 Elk and 3 Deer without even sharpening once. I was so impressed I bought another one and a boning knife.
These knifes are expensive but you will never find a knife that holds an edge like these knifes do. I am know going to buy the hunting knifes. I did send my first butcher knife back to be resharpened, the service was unbelievably fast. Great product Great service, that is hard to find anywhere these days.

I have owned my set of Cutco knifes since 1973, Out of all those years I have only had one paring knife out of the whole set need to be replaced for a nick in blade. I for one think there is not a better quality for your dollar than Cutco. The old saying of you get what you pay for is even surpassed with this product line. They have withstand time beyond what I would have ever expected & I am so glad that the Company itself has stood behind their reputation of service, quality, and craftsmanship.

This knife gets the work done.
We live in Costa Rica and thus eat plenty of pineapple and fruits that need a serious knife that cut through it. This Cutco butcher knife does the trick. We also raise our own chicken and second only to the machete, this knife helps us piece up the chicken before cooking.

Good for prepping boned meats
Although my knife is not a double D bladed knife like so many of Cutco's other knife, I have found it to be extremely useful when I need to cut through meats like ribs or chicken. As with all others, it has a grip that is comfortable and a weight that makes cutting through bone very easy. Having had mine for about 30 years and loving to barbeque, it has been a good friend in prepping meats for the grill.

Most Used Knife
This is the perfect knife to cut frozen meat or chicken. Also, to slice thin leftover cooked roasts as it does not shred the meat as you slice it. It also peels turnips with ease, which is the worst vegetable to peel. I own the full set of knives and this one is used the most. A bonus for me is that they can be used by either right or lefthanded people.

Best Purchase/Investment Ever
I purchased this knife from a college student who was selling the knives to raise money for college expenses. After seeing his demonstration, I purchased the knife and used it for our cutting meat when my family gets together to do butchering.
I never sharpened the knife at all and I cut several hundred pounds of meat with the knife along with cutting into bones.

Melons! Squash! Chicken!
I have a large garden and every fall reap lots of squash. Acorn squash is the worst thing to cut. This knife tackled it without even precooking. Not something I would advise doing, but if you have to cut something very hard and very quickly, this is the knife to use....and watermelon is the easiest to cut with this knife because it is so large, there is no melon too big for it. Even cutting a whole chicken is so quick and easy.

Best Knife for the job
I love my whole set of Cutco knives but especially my butcher knife. It is well balanced, maintains sharpness and a joy to use. It is hard to choose which knife of the set I like the best. I recommend Cutco knives to my friends and several have purchased. They have not been sorry.

Don't waste your money
No matter how often I have had this knife sharpened, it remains dull. It is the worst knife I own. I never use it because I haven't ever been able to get it sharp enough.

butcher knife
Although this knife is designed to cut and disjoin meat, it's a useful tool for vegetables and heavy fruits such as melons.
It's got a great edge that slices through anything effortlessly with comfort and less fatigue due to its handle. Well balanced and light, this is important when preparing large meals such as catering and banquets.
In my kitchen, however, it's just daily meals and occasional large dinners. We use it mainly f or meats, but slicing and dicing vegetables are no problem. I have a variety of knives for for most tasks, including two chefs knives... but the butcher knife is surprisingly versatile and can be used as one's sole kitchen knife.
Given that it's made with premium steel, the edge on our knife stays sharp longer than the other knives in our collection. This is literally a top drawer tool that compares favorably against Wusthof, Henckles, Global and Sabatier. Certainly not cheap, but I have high expectations for expensive products and am not disappointed in the least.
Okay, CUTCO, we'll give the butcher knife a five star rating for being a well designed and made kitchen tool for the ages....
